Mundo Abricot
is my creative world, a space in which I feel free and in which I can express myself, far away from my everyday activities. In this world, I have no other aspiration than to paint, to draw, to create something that I like: either because I simply find it beautiful, because of the emotion it triggers in me or because it makes me smile.
It all started with portraits (without a model), painted with oil pastels, whose intense and vivid colors allowed me to express a wide range of feelings and emotions: Melancholy, anger, defiance, sadness.... My characters, usually women with whom I can perhaps empathize better, eventually revealed their story, and in retrospect I understand what led them to that emotion.
Gradually, more ornamental motifs appeared: Plants, animals, and the Abricot world became more and more decorative and cheerful. For a while, worries, fears and existential questions were dealt with by "the girl with the cat". A graphic diary in black and white in which a girl and her clever cat share their reflections on life with humor and sometimes sarcasm. Simple strokes with black ink, simple dialogues allow to de-dramatize my/their problems and to face the emotions with a little more rationality and common sense. This simple way of telling stories has opened the door to illustration for my art.
The discovery of new techniques or materials and the impact they have on my creative work excites me and I continue to explore them with joy and curiosity: oil pastel, collage, watercolor, mixed media, new materials and themes, the Abricot world is a world in constant expansion....
